We have postdoctoral positions available at the Department of Environmental Medicine and Public Health, the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai in New York City.
These three-year, fully-funded appointments will support you in your path to a career as an independent scientist. We are a very multidisciplinary department, including scientists who are experts in data science, physics, molecular biologists, biochemists, epidemiologists, biostatisticians, data scientists, and community-based researchers, all working towards the goal of improving the health and environment of human populations. The atmosphere of the department is very collaborative, diverse, and supportive, perfect for new investigators who are interested in high-impact research. Criteria
Doctoral degree (PhD, ScD, MD, DO) in any discipline
Interested in environmental medicine or public health, especially in children
Must be U.S. citizen or green card holder
General Topics Environmental medicine and public health are broadly defined to include, for example, the effects of stress, nutrition, socioeconomic factors, chemical exposures in children or in pregnancy/perinatal health. Examples of current projects
Computational methods for analyzing toxicity of pollutants in children
Use of technology in community-based health interventions to reduce misinformation and increase health literacy in populations of color in New York City

ANNOUNCING: SPECIAL POSTDOCTORAL POSITION FOR THE COMMUNITY HEALTH INFORMATION EDUCATION FORUM AT ICAHN SCHOOL OF MEDICINE
We are thrilled to announce a unique postdoctoral position in the Community Health Information Education Forum (CHIEF) project. This project aims to address the challenges faced by minority and marginalized communities in accessing reliable health information. The postdoctoral fellow will be responsible for conducting community-based participatory research (CBPR) to improve health information dissemination using a technology platform. The postdoctoral candidate will receive close mentoring and guidance, while at the same time being involved in mentoring MPH students who will assist in the project. The CHIEF project has the following specific aims:
Apply CBPR to evaluate the impact of technology-assisted health information campaigns in an underserved minority community in Brooklyn, New York.
Advance diversity in public health professions by providing experiential learning opportunities and applied CBPR for MPH and MD/MPH students at Mount Sinai, as well as for high school students in Brooklyn.
Develop and implement a data-driven, scalable, and sustainable model for community-based health literacy campaigns, guided by the RE-AIM framework and informed by data and community input.
The postdoctoral fellow will play a crucial role in mobilizing community-based resources and student involvement to establish a sustainable and scalable model for delivering accurate health information to marginalized populations. Expected qualifications are:
Doctoral degree in epidemiology, public health, environmental health, or related fields.
High level of organizational skills with the ability to lead meetings, take initiative, follow through on the many facets of this project.
Ability to enthusiastically engage with different populations in the community
Skills in the design of rigorous community-based research, and adaptation, development, and application of quantitative and qualitative metrics for assessing community engagement and health literacy.
Writing and presentation skills
